Approaching me for Work
I am generally open for commissions, and will at least entertain a question or price quote, so don’t be shy. Most types of my work are either given out on a first-come first-served slot basis, but some are auction only. My price list will tell you which are which. Sometimes I’ll announce open slots, but usually you can just ask me for something if you don’t mind the wait time, which is listed in my Queue.
Before contacting me, please make sure you have read everything listed under the Commissions link on the menu, including this TOS. I really don’t like answering questions that have already been answered multiple times in something you should have read anyway. If you have a question that I have not answered anywhere on this site, then please, by all means, ask.
This is what I require from you in your email/note:
- Type of artwork you choose based on my price list, and how many characters are involved
- A brief description of the scene you wish me to depict.
- Character references. Text works fine as well, but do not copypasta your novel length, purple-prosed description to me. I only want the essentials that are needed for the picture, not the character’s entire backstory.
- I may ask for additional reference material as necessary
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE MONEY READY, at least part of it. Seriously, if you contact me and give me all that description of what you want and then tell me you can’t pay me til you get your paycheck in two weeks, I’m going to be pissed. I don’t hold slots for anybody but repeat customers who I know will come through, so if you miss the boat, you miss the boat. Minimum payment up front is $10, which is good for one hour of work, and reserves your slot for you. Do not expect me to spend more than an hour on your piece if you have only paid the minimum.
PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ME VIA AIM, MSN, OR ANY OTHER MESSENGER CONCERNING A COMMISSION. You may, if you wish, contact me to chat if you truly have something substantial to talk about, however, please keep in mind that my chat time is limited, and when I’m not working on art, I’m busy with something else. I am, if treated with respect, quite friendly and personable via email or notes. But unless I know you, or have spoken to you at length via some other means, I am often shortspoken and easily irritated over IM.
Payment
Upon confirmation of the commission idea, I will send you all the information you need to complete a payment.
I accept paypal in all cases, money order for commissions over $30, hidden mailed cash for commissions over $30 (no coins, damnit!). In some cases, I’ll even accept Moneygrams, though they are a pain in the ass.
NO YOU CAN NOT PAY BY SPIDER >:O
Commission Content
As the artist, I reserve the right to deny any commission request on the grounds that I am not comfortable rendering it, be it a subject that bothers me, or something of which I feel I cannot do justice.
I WILL draw:
- anthro characters including, but not limited to: humans, fantasy humanoid entities such as elves, faeries, trolls, etc, mythological creatures, and furries of most types.
- any rating, from G rated, straight to hardcore XXX.
- any sex or sex pairing. m/f, m/m, f/f, h/f, h/m, h/h, h/m/f, etc
- most fetishes, including but not limited to: bondage, footplay, size difference, tickling, spanking, torture, vore, macro/micro, pregnant, strapons, tentacles, etc
- characters belonging to you, or a friend’s character as a gift. Any other characters, especially if an adult situation, you MUST GET PERMISSION from the owner if you wish the commission to be public. I will still draw it for you without permission, but please refer to the section on private commissions.
I am not very good at, but can TRY to draw:
- horses (and horse anthros, also including centaurs), reptiles, were and feral animals.
I WILL NOT normally draw:
Everything on this list CAN be bought with the proper incentive, but please be advised that additional fees will be applied, and you won’t like those fees at all. Please see my Price List to learn what these fees are.
- Scat (poopoo), watersports (peepee), massive obesity, hyper muscle, hyper genitals, cub (porn), babyfur/diapers, necrophilia, and Sonic the Hedgehog, or anything relating to him.
If you do happen to pay me enough to draw any of the above, it will not be signed by me, it will not be uploaded anywhere by me. In fact, as soon as you receive the finished piece, I will delete any traces of it from my harddrives. If you lose it, you won’t be able to get it back from me.
If you don’t like my additional fee but are still in the market for that sort of art, I WILL NOT refer you to another artist who will do it. You are on your own.
Queue and Turnaround Time
Once I confirm the commission, send you a price and the means to pay me (paypal address, mailing address, whatever), and I have received your money, you’ll be listed in my queue. The queue shows everyone who is waiting on a commission from me, when they paid, what type of commission they’re getting, their tentative start and due dates, and percentage complete. The queue is also timestamped with the last time it was updated. I like to update it every couple days, but sometimes I don’t, so use your best judgment.
Generally, turnaround time from actual start to finish is about a week plus one day per every $10. So say you bought something for $50. 7+5=12. So something like that would be complete in about twelve days.
The turnaround time is an ESTIMATE ONLY. Sometimes I finish before the date, sometimes I’m late by a day or two. If you absolutely need a piece before my estimated due date, we can work something out, but there will be an additonal rush-job fee, which you will be able to see on my Prices page.
I am pretty organized when it comes to keeping track of what I owe. You may contact me for a progress update at any time, but please be reminded that I DO know what I have due, and don’t expect your piece to be done before the projected due date. When in doubt, check the queue to see the last time I worked on your piece.
If you haven’t received a sketch yet and it’s now PAST my estimated due date, by all means send me a note or email! Something may have gone awry with email or FA or whatever, and my message didn’t get where it was supposed to go. If the commission in question is a pinup, it’s most likely that I’ve already taken it to completion if you haven’t got back to me, so check my FA gallery. As always, if I made a mistake with your character, I’m only too willing to fix it.
Private Commissions
You may request a private commission if you do not wish for me to post the image online anywhere. However, I rely on uploading to bring in potential new customers, so there is a fee. Check out my prices page for information on privacy fees.
You must request privacy before the piece is even started. Once you’ve paid and I’ve begun, you’ve forfeited your right for that commission to remain private.
Additional Fees
Some other aspects of your requests might also incur a fee. Firstly, unlike some artists, I will never charge you extra simply for a mature/x-rated commission, unless it is to be done at a convention. In my opinion, that’s ridiculously stupid, and makes the artist look like an asshole, especially if they draw that stuff for themselves all the time anyway. It’s different if they’re primarily a clean artist and really dislike porn, but that’s rarely the case. The majority of clean artists will just outright deny adult commissions.
If your character is complicated or overly detailed in any way, there will be a complexity fee. Complex parameters can include but are not limited to:
-overly detailed or ornate clothing or accessories
-overly detailed or ornate markings
-most types of wings
-more than the usual number of limbs
-cyborg parts / robots
As with everything, I’ll judge complexity on a case by case basis. Your character with cyborg parts, for example, might be simplified, and that’s not so bad. But if it requires lots of little details like wires, rivets, screws, circuitry, etc, then that would be considered complex. And since each must be considered on a case by case basis, I cannot accurately list what the fee will be until I see the character. It’ll be based on how long I think it will take me to draw/ink/color such a thing compared to something more simple. But generally it will be a small percentage of the commission itself.
Included in the price of the commission is up to three minor sketch edits, one lineart edit, and one color edit. Any additional edits will be charged hourly at $11/h. Once these edits are made, I will not proceed until the additional fee is paid.
Finishing Up
Once the commission has been completed, the finished product will be uploaded to FA. If I know for a fact that you watch me there, I may or may not actually send you a note, but I usually do. If you do not watch me, or if I am unsure, I’ll send a note or email with a link to the final piece.
All pinups are uploaded to my gallery at their working size. You can save it straight from there, and you’ve got the full piece. Anything larger is uploaded to FA at a reduced size. The full sized png will be made available to you on my webserver. PSD files are not generally handed out, but if you’re clever, you can probably find it!
Not required, but highly encouraged, is to fill out and post a feedback form.
Also not required, but it would be nice if you would favorite and comment on the piece if you are able.
I encourage reuploading to your own gallery, as long as linking and proper credit is given.
If you are UNHAPPY with your commission for some reason, I will try my best to fix it within reason. If it’s something as simple as a missing accessory or a miscolor, I have no problems and can fix it easily if it’s digital (more difficult if traditional). If it’s something that requires a major repaint, something that could have been avoided if you had been clearer in your description or should have pointed out during an earlier stage, I will charge for the fix on the aforementioned $11/h basis, and you won’t get the fixed file until it is paid. Remember, this is my JOB, and if the mistakes are your fault, you will be compensating me for the additional time spent when I could be working on another paid piece.
Endgame
Partial Payments
I will take and start work with a partial payment. However, I will only work on your piece at a rate of $11/h until the whole payment has been received. So if you give me $10 to start with, I’ll put about an hour’s worth of work into the sketch, and then stop until I get the rest.
I cannot give a true due date on a piece that has not been fully paid for. I put in my best estimate, but if you delay the rest of your payment, your piece will likewise be delayed.
Refunds
I do not give out full refunds. I will only give a partial refund if you decide you no longer want a commission from me.
- If some work has been done, you will be charged for the time taken at a rate of $11/h. The rest will be refunded.
- If no work has been done, you will be refunded everything minus $5. That five bucks initially secured your spot in the queue, and was the minimum partial payment, even if you paid everything up front. It’s my “don’t waste my time” fee.
- If you are generally rude to me, condescending, guilt tripping, or otherwise an asshole, and you manage to piss me off enough that I no longer want to finish your work, your refund is going to be very small. First I keep the hourly rate of which I worked on your piece. Then I keep $10, or 30% of what you would have gotten back (whichever is larger) if you hadn’t been such a prick.
After all is said an done, what will you end up with?
If you’ve won an auction, it really depends on the contents of the auction.
Anything else, you get what you pay for, sometimes more, if I’m in a groove and go overboard.
If it’s a digital piece, you automatically get a preview of the sketch (or multiple previews depending on amount of revisions) and the finished piece. You may also request the inks or flats, but if requesting flats stage, please do so BEFORE I start shading in case I accidentally merge layers and save over it.
If it’s a traditional piece, you get the finished work. You may request a printout of the sketch, since I do my initial sketching digitally. You’ll get a high resolution scan of the finished piece, plus the original in the mail if you requested it and paid for shipping.
Copyright Information
You, the commissioner, retain copyright to any character you ask me to depict. You may NOT make prints to sell for profit. If it is a traditional work, you may resell the original if you wish. That is up to you. You MAY upload the image to your personal gallery as long as proper credit and links are given.
I, the artist, retain copyright to the piece containing your character. I may make prints for display purposes, or to sell for profit. I may use the image for advertisement purposes. I may post the image anywhere I see fit, or to not post it at all. I DO NOT own your character, and WILL NOT use your character for anything that is unrelated to the commission itself. This means I will never draw your character in any questionable situation without your permission, if I should choose to draw it outside of commission at all.
And I think that’s about it for the TOS!
